Community Worker Safety Training for Social Workers and Health Care Providers

What you will receive:

This course is designed for Social Service Agencies, Health Care Agencies, anyone who must go out into the community to conduct visits with clients in their homes.

This is a very interactive training experience incorporating video presentations, lecture, group discussions and small work group activities.  It is a must for anyone who has to conduct visits with clients either in the community or in their office. 

Whether a new worker or veteran staff, everyone will benefit from this training.  Whether you work alone or with another co-worker, knowing what to do in a crisis situation can mean the difference between being injured or staying safe.

What you will learn:

  • A crisis development model that teaches you to recognize escalating stages of crisis.
  • Proven and effective verbal techniques and strategies to match each stage of a client's crisis level
  • Barriers to communication
  • An understanding of the dynamics of a physically acting out client, and how to effectively work with them
  • The importance of good documentation of incidents
  • An understanding of how to create a safe environment in your office when clients visit you
  • How to prepare for field visits
  • Traveling to the field visit
  • Prevention strategies during the visit
  • Prevention strategies with a violent client
  • Prevention strategies when a weapon is involved
  • Transporting a child in a vehicle
